PUPILLAGE APPLICATIONS

Applications are invited for two 12 month pupillages commencing in October 2008. Applications must be made on Chambers Application Form. In view of some technical difficulties encountered, the closing date for applications has been extended to Monday 28th July 2008.

Goldsmith Chambers is a common law set organised into three practice groups; Crime, Family and Civil. Chambers actively encourages pupils and junior tenants to practice in more than one area of law in order to gain a more rounded and secure career at the Bar. However, initially pupils starting their second six will be expected to develop a criminal practice in the magistrates’ court, where advocacy skills can be developed and honed.

Goldsmith Chambers is committed to an equal opportunities policy for the selection of pupils and in all other areas of Chambers business. To ensure equality of treatment for applicants, pupils, members of chambers and their employees Goldsmith Chambers applies the Bar Council’s Equality and Diversity Code for the Bar.

Goldsmith Chambers offers 12 month pupillages, the number of pupils taken on each year will be determined by the Pupillage Committee in consultation with the Management Committee.

Goldsmith Chambers offers an award of £10,000 for the first twelve months of pupillage. This is by way of payment to the pupil of £833.33 per month in the first six months and a guaranteed income of £833.33 per month for the second six months. Reasonable travel expenses incurred during the first six months of pupillage will be paid separately.

Enquiries about pupillage recruitment should be addressed to the Chair of the Pupillage Committee.
